The Opportunity
In this role, you will own and drive key capability functions for our Ethics & Compliance program. Specifically, you will lead our standards and controls (including policy and procedure governance) and training and awareness building blocks. You will also oversee and coordinate the Company’s approach to ensuring fines and penalties and other regulatory issues are addressed. We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated person. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead the design, implementation, execution, and continuous improvement of the Ethics & Compliance standards and controls (including policy and procedure governance) and training and awareness strategies, plans, processes, and activities.
- Provide overall stewardship of the Company’s policies, procedures, guidelines, and other standards and controls documents.
- Ensure that the Company’s standards and controls are effectively designed against internal governance requirements and are mapped to the Company’s risks and obligations.
- Collaborate with a broad range of subject-matter experts and internal stakeholders on existing, new, and enhanced standards and controls, promoting and driving consistency with our governance requirements.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve our Ethics & Compliance training and awareness plans, processes, and activities, creating and driving an overarching strategy linked to both our risks and obligations and our standards and controls, in close collaboration with our Company’s central training and development team.
- Oversee team of Associates that review and ensure compliance with regulatory activity at the local and state level regarding retail store compliance and obligations.
- Serve as a key contributor and thought leader within Ethics & Compliance, driving relevant strategic, organizational, and operational initiatives.
- Effectively distill complex situations and technical matters and communicate them simply and effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain a customer-centric approach.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 10+years of professional experience in legal, risk, ethics, compliance, or governance.
- Extensive experience owning and driving legal or compliance program activities, including experience developing and implementing policy-governance frameworks and training and awareness strategies and plans.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Highly effective communicator with strong personal presence and credibility and the ability to influence, engage, collaborate, and build trust-based relationships at all levels and across the organization.
- Excellent organizational and project-management skills.
- Strong decision-making capabilities, even in ambiguous situations; adept at solving problems and seeing them through to resolution.
- Strategic thinking, with the ability to develop and implement successful program enhancements.
- Resilient and self-motivated, with a demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
