Director, Corporate Human Resources (Onsite)

Dollar Tree Chesapeake, VA (Onsite) Full-Time
The Director, Human Resources leads HR support at the Store Support Center for multiple functions. This position is a key partner with the HR Centers of Excellence responsible for driving the design, development, and implementation of HR Programs. The Director of Human Resources performs a strategic role by guiding leaders and providing Human Resources expertise in Coaching/Talent-Development, Compensation, Associate Relations, Organizational Development, Training, Talent Acquisition and Change Management. This role is responsible for supporting specific departments and/or functions at the Store Support Center and becomes embedded within the business to work closely with Senior Leaders on all HR-related issues with the support of an HR Manager. This individual drives HR programs and initiatives with functional leaders, placing considerable focus on change management, retention, performance management, and nurturing Dollar Tree’s focus on culture and belonging. The HR Director is responsible for embracing the company’s commitment to supporting our associates, customers, providing high levels of internal customer service and supporting company sales growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a small team of HR Managers who are responsible for generalist support and high-volume requests from the business including the administrative aspects of leave management, performance management and system support.
  • Partner with Senior Leaders to create and support an environment focused on driving corporate culture through open communication, diversity and professional growth opportunities.
  • Partner with and coach business leaders on all aspects of Human Resources including team member engagement, retention, Employee Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Performance Management, Talent Development, Training, and HR compliance.
  • Consult and strategize with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) regarding Compensation, Incentives, People Solutions, Benefits, Performance Management, Talent Acquisition, and Succession Planning.
  • Evaluate, modify and implement change, where possible, bringing programs and processes in line with company objectives. Lead with confidence, coaching leaders through change and crafting communication plans.
  • Recommend and support implementation of process improvement, corporate initiatives and procedures that contribute to the overall success of the business.
  • Strategic workforce planning focused on optimizing organizational design to establish synergies and improve performance of the business
  • Succession planning: select and develop key talent to ensure there are talents to fill in critical roles
  • Integrate with functional leaders to understand the organizational value and team dynamics and effectively drive HR strategies.
  • Drive partnership with Talent Management and guide leaders to provide coaching, guidance and support to high potential candidates in the creation and monitoring of development plans targeted at skill enhancement in current and future positions.
  • Provide advice and counsel to leaders and Associates to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures and practices.
  • Assist the VP of Human Resources in the development and execution of department goals and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Develop organization strategies by identifying and researching Human Resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organizational strategic thinking and direction; establishing Human Resources objectives in line with HR goals and organizational objectives.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of all State, Federal and local laws as they pertain to the HR function in order to ensure organization compliance. Ensures that these laws and regulations are represented and accounted for in HR Policies, procedures, objectives and goals. Ensures policies and procedures are being followed.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Onsite office support
  • 7+ years of HR Business Partner and/or Director - level experience
  • Experience leading & influencing teams of direct and indirect reports
  • Experience as an HR Business Partner with previous experience working with Senior Leadership
  • Experience in, Workforce Planning, Staffing, Budgeting, Associate Relations and Retention, Learning & Development and Responsibility for large number of Team Members
  • Must possess a solid grasp of the businesses they support
Desired Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or Business required, with a Master’s degree preferred
  • PHR, SPHR, CP, SCP, or equivalent certification
  • Basic technical competency with HR related systems, software & programs
