Quality Control Manager

QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER JOB POSTING/DESCRIPTION
Dollar Tree's distribution center (DC) located just north of Denton Texas in Marietta Oklahoma is currently seeking to add a Quality Control Department Manager to the building’s leadership team. This Exempt role oversees all aspects of quality control within the DC operation across a shift in an automated full service, high volume, and full-case retail distribution center with multiple shifts.
General Summary
The role of the Quality Control Department Manager is to assist the general manager by implementing and managing procedures to ensure Dollar Tree stores receive timely and accurate inventory replenishments. This position will also be responsible for providing direction and support to Distribution Center Managers, promoting inventory accuracy through continuous process improvements, mentoring and developing staff and effectively communicating DT initiatives and Distribution Center goals. The Quality Control Department Manager will carry out management responsibilities including job performance evaluations, project management, hiring and staff development. This position is responsible for embracing Dollar Tree’s store-centric commitment to customers, customer service and sales.
Quality Control Department Managers at Dollar Tree are responsible for:
  • Ensure inventory integrity by conducting audits on each production department's procedures, physically inspecting DC noting issues as discovered, and auditing Inventory Control procedures for accuracy and discover areas of opportunity for improvement
  • Assist departments with any quality or inventory issues that arise.
  • Identify and establish new storage and QC processes and/or design new pick or reserve areas within the DC.
  • Interview, hire and develop associates within the department.
  • Review quality reports for each production department and address concerns.
  • Oversee the cycle count process within the DC.
  • Managing hourly associates within the QC department.
  • Respond to and advise on requests from various Store Support Center departments and Store Managers in a timely and effective manner.
  • Completing all responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain "hands on" accountability for the department goals.
  • Ensure associates are trained on departmental job procedures.
  • Identify any additional training needs in order to assist associates in attaining desired levels of job performance.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, ensuring all proper safety procedures are enforced and followed.
  • Partner with HR team to hire, train, evaluate and develop associates. In conjunction with the Operations Manager and General Manager, carry out evaluations, disciplinary actions and/or recommends termination of employment as appropriate.
  • Recommend changes, revisions, additions or deletions to procedures. Continue to monitor the efficiency and cost effectiveness of said procedures.
  • Share and provide appropriate information and anticipates information needs of associates.

Position Requirements:
  • Must be able to continuously walk the Distribution Center floor for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to lift or move 60 lbs. (may be more frequent during cycle counts or physical inventories)
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and shifts
  • Less than 10% overnight travel
What we need from you:
Education: College degree--BA/BS or equivalent work experience with 3-5 years at management level
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience and quality/inventory control management experience in an automated WMS distribution center.
Solid knowledge of distribution center practices and procedures
Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial, interpersonal, and communication skills; Ability to lead by example, mentor, develop, and foster a team environment are essential
Strong ability to lead/coach associates towards professional success
Ability to understand and demonstrate technical /equipment, and systems
Progressive analytical ability to gather and interpret information then; develop, recommend, and implement pro-active solutions
Excellent analytical, project management, verbal and written communication skills
Computer Skills: Software: Microsoft Office Application proficiency, WMS, Retek, Radio Frequency (RF), Manhattan, AS400 or Catalyst.
