Director, Logistics Maintenance - FD

Family Dollar Chesapeake, VA (Onsite) Full-Time

Manage and oversee Regional Maintenance Team. Lead and manage annual retrofit projects program across 9 DCs inclusive of Conveyor Systems/MHE, Controls, Racking, Rolling Stock and Building Infrastructure with annual budget of $15M+. Support the DC Network by providing guidance and training to Facility Managers and Maintenance Technicians. Maintain and expand CMMS program. Develop multi-year program for replacement of end of life infrastructure within the DCs, ie roofs, switchgears, etc. Advisor to the Distribution Center General Managers and the Vice President of Logistics on all maintenance. Facilitates Capital Expense process inclusive of RFP process and Budget Submittal. Partner with DC General Managers and HR in hiring for open reqs within the Maintenance organization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and guidance for all preventive maintenance and repairs within the Distribution Centers and grounds. This includes but is not limited to conveyors, rolling stock and batteries, building and building equipment, racking, floors, truck yard, HVAC…

  • Provide direction and guidance relative to maintenance of all housekeeping standards.

  • Assist with hiring, training and development of hourly and Management maintenance staffs. Review and maintain appropriate maintenance department staffing levels within the DCs.

  • Review and enhance our CMMS tool to insure we realize maximum effectiveness of the software.

  • Develop strategy to optimize rolling stock asset life and minimize operating expenses.

  • Review, recommend and implement additions, modifications and improvement to facility systems.

  • Manage the development, implementation and administration of operational policies for maintenance departmental work activities.

  • Provide written direction, development of equipment inspection check sheets, and equipment/associate safety training programs through CMMS platform.

  • Develop maintenance SOPs, ensure compliance and consistent maintenance practices.

  • Point of contact for safety programs such as: Office of Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)/Hazmat.

  • Assist DCs and Corporate Logistics with the development and management of Capital Expenses including preparation of requirements and development of ROI, obtaining competitive bids, and facilitating project completions ensuring quality of work performed.

  • Perform quarterly maintenance inspections as well as annual audits in each DC.

  • Assist with design of new buildings and expansions. Participate in and make recommendations for vendor selections

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

• Minimum of ten years of Enterprise Maintenance Leadership experience.

• Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and procedures including CMMS platforms

• Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial and communication skills.

• Good analytical ability to gather and interpret information and develop, recommend, and implement solutions.

• Strong working knowledge of Electrical, Controls and Mechanical Systems

• Knowledge of Distribution Center construction, equipment, and rack installation.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in controls, electrical, or mechanical engineering preferred.

• Strong working knowledge of Material Handling Equipment controls systems

• PLC knowledge
