Marketing Planner-FD

Family Dollar Chesapeake, VA (Onsite) Full-Time
General Summary:
The Marketing Planner drives the development and execution of all marketing plans and strategies as it relates to shopper marketing and supplier relationships in additional to the coordination with their LOB’s merchant VP and merchants for print, digital and in-store promotions. This role’s primary focus is the building and execution of shopper marketing programs and promotions to drive incremental sales and margin, improve the Family Dollar brand, and create loyalty in our customers. Strategically, this role will develop shopper marketing programs and promotional plans including the identification of items to promote in the various promotional vehicles. After shopper marketing programs and/or promotional events are complete, the individual(s) in this role will partner with the analytics partners to measure results and present impactful findings to merchandising partners and leaders. As such, the Marketing Planner is critical to the ongoing innovation and improvement of marketing planning and strategy.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Develop, communicate and execute well thought out, integrated shopper marketing and promotional plans that deliver ROI for their specific LOB.
2. Ensure that each supplier and merchant understands the role of Family Dollar Marketing Planning and established programs.
3. Manage the CPG/brand relationship in regards to shopper marketing and serve as the liaison for those projects between merchandising and marketing.
4. Represent Marketing Planning in major Merchandising meetings, supplier reviews, etc.
5. Drive awareness of major promotional campaigns in merchandising to ensure their inclusion in promotional events
6. Work with analytics partners to develop and present historical analyses of prior promotional events (i.e. last year, competitor activity, etc.) to assist the merchandising organization in identifying promotional opportunities
7. Partner with CPG/brand partners and merchants to build category specific promotional strategies
8. Identify and recommend programs and products to promote in marketing vehicles based on historical results
Position Requirements:
• Office work environment, 40+ work hours per week
• Self-motivated individual with strong inner drive to be successful
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to tailor message and style to different levels of the organization
• Prior experience in marketing and merchandising
• Proven ability to develop partnerships, collaborate, and negotiate across business divisions
• Strong analytical skills including the capability to conducted detailed assessments of promotional events
• Strong horizontal and vertical leadership skills and ability to contribute to a team environment with a proven ability to motivate others and create a productive work atmosphere
• Ability to see the big picture and self-motivate to take advantage of opportunities
• Capability to multi-task and set priorities across a broad range of projects
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
Experience: 5 years of applicable merchandising and/or marketing experience with a general merchandise retailer; store and/or field (visual) merchandising experience a plus

Computer Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); Working knowledge of Marketing Resource Management Solution and Retek a plus
