SAFETY SANITATION AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER

SAFETY AND HEALTH/SANITATION/COMPLIANCE MANAGER

Dollar Tree's busy and expanding distribution center (DC7) located in Ridgefield, WA is currently seeking a Safety and Health Sanitation Compliance Manager to the building’s senior leadership team. The Manager will act as the conscience of the Distribution Center in making safety and health the top priority in all operations and to further the “Be A Hero” safety program. This role will partner with our Corporate EHS team with a direct report to the Director of DC Operations to ensure all WISHA, OSHA, EPA, FDA policies and procedures are followed.

Key Responsibilities in the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing daily sanitation, deep cleaning, training and monitoring a staff of 10-15 over multiple shifts.
  • Ensure sanitation and pest control services are in place, interface with vendors, monitor activity and respond to such, set up sanitation schedules and manage the resources to ensure adherence to said schedules.
  • Works with operations to identify opportunities and ensures programs to prevent and dispose of products that could potentially become hazardous waste are implemented and executed and ensures other environmental compliance programs are implemented and executed, as necessary.
  • Maintain up to date documentation of SOPs, in conjunction with the EH&S Department, educate Operations on requirements and follow up to see that compliance is consistent.
  • Ensure safety and health programs (e.g., lockout/tagout, hazard communication) are complete, implemented, and up-to-date.
  • Serve as IIPP administrator.
  • Manage all environmental, health and safety activities that are required by Federal, State, and various local government entities.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and report improvement opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Provide environmental, health, and safety training as required by company policy and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage and improve the facility’s environmental, health, and safety management system,
  • Track environmental, health, and safety performance.
  • Plan, implement, and coordinate programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and regulatory risk.
  • Identify and appraise conditions which could produce accidents and liability; proactively develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Improve and Develop accident-prevention programs for incorporation into operational policies of organization.
  • Coordinate safety activities of department managers to ensure implementation of safety activities throughout organization.
  • Maintain liaison with outside organizations, such as fire departments, to assure information exchange and mutual assistance.
  • Devise methods to evaluate safety program and conduct or direct evaluations.
  • Evaluate technical and scientific publications concerned with safety management and participate in activities of related professional organizations to update knowledge of safety program developments.
  • Responsible for sharing skills and knowledge; train other employees.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts. Support and help to implement new ideas. Available to respond to incidents after hours as required.
  • Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and follow ups implemented to minimize or eliminate accidents, asset losses.
  • Build and lead the execution of a safety culture roadmap to drive progression from reactive to interdependent culture.
  • Work with contractors to ensure safety on site, including contractor qualification, pre-job planning and training, and safe work processes.
  • Partners with Corporate EHS and a third party vendor to coordinate and assist with preparation and timely submittal of all EH&S monitoring and reporting required by our Waste Water Prevention Plan.
  • Lead incident investigations, including determination of root causes and development of corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Provide oversight and management of site EH&S related action items.
  • Assist in regards to HR related questions and issues such as New Hire Orientation, and Workers Compensation etc.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 5 to 7 Years of prior Safety and Health Manager experience and/or a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience in industrial operations as an operator with positive safety results
  • General knowledge of OSHA and FDA requirements
  • Knowledge of warehouse sanitation and pest prevention GDP
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Preventive Control Qualified Individual
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Generator Training
  • HAZWOPER: Chemical Fundamentals
  • Ability to operate safely in a warehouse distribution environment; this may include, but is not limited to potentially lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods of time bending, crouching, stooping, rotating, climbing stairs, or any combination of the aforementioned, etc.
  • Storm Water, Hot Work Permit, LOTO, and other regulatory compliance programs; however, we will consider candidates who do not have experience in all of these topics specifically.
  • Detail Oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks in fast paced environment.
  • Microsoft Office including Advanced Excel skills.
