You will work cross-functionally with merchants, vendors, and third-party labs to support product quality, development, and regulatory compliance efforts across a broad assortment of consumer goods. The Opportunity
In this role, you will assist in managing our hardline and softline product testing programs to ensure all items meet safety, quality, and performance standards. You will work cross-functionally with merchants, vendors, and third-party labs to support product quality, development, and regulatory compliance efforts across a broad assortment of consumer goods. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive individual who values customer safety and satisfaction, with a genuine passion for quality and regulatory compliance.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work closely with our approved third-party laboratories to validate that products meet analytical, labeling, and performance standards prior to shipment to our distribution centers.
- Issue corrective action plans when products fail to meet our testing protocol requirements and track resolution through to successful completion.
- Assist in implementing compliance strategies that align with regulatory requirements while minimizing disruption within our supply chain.
- Collaborate with third party technical experts to ensure testing protocols adhere to current regulatory standards.
- Track and document new and/or revised regulatory standards.
- Partner with internal and external teams to interpret federal and state regulatory requirements, such as product safety, and translate them into actionable retail policies, ensuring product and vendor compliance.
- Support state regulatory reporting by tracking and compiling required product information, verifying documentation, and submitting compliance reports related to state chemical disclosure and labeling.
- Assist with product withdrawals and recalls by collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant removal of impacted goods in our stores and distribution centers.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, required.
- 4+ years of professional experience in legal, risk, ethics, compliance, or governance.
- Familiarity with ASTM, CPSC, CPSIA, and AATCC standards, preferred.
- Working knowledge of California Proposition 65 and CARB.
- Prior experience determining appropriate age grading for hardline and softline products in alignment with CPSC guidelines and industry standards.
- Strong analytical thinking skills, with the proven ability to successfully solve problems through data interpretation and root cause analysis.
- Skilled in translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance, promoting alignment and understanding across merchant teams and stakeholders.
